Nagham Al-Mozany

Dr. Nagham Al-Mozany is a New Zealand trained Consultant General and Colorectal Surgeon who is fluent in English, Arabic and French, specialising in Colorectal cancer and perianal conditions such as haemorrhoids, anal fissures, fistulas and pelvic floor disorders. She is a Clinical Senior Lecturer at the University of Auckland.
Dr. Nagham gained her medical qualification from the University of Otago and received her Fellowship in General Surgery from the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2011, Masters in Colorectal Surgery from the University of Sydney in 2012 and awarded a Fellowship in General Surgery from the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh in 2022. She is a member of the Colorectal Surgical Society of Australia and New Zealand and is one of the very few female colorectal surgeons practising in Auckland and highly regarded amongst her colleagues and patients.
Current and previous positions include: Colorectal and General Surgeon at the Specialist Centre at Auckland Radiology, MacMurray Centre, Mercy Hospital, Kakariki Hospital, Auckland City Hospital, and Program Director for the ANZ training board in colorectal surgery at Auckland City Hospital.

What is most important to you when caring for patients?
My team and I strive to provide the highest level of surgical expertise, respect and compassionate care to all her patients, in New Zealand and overseas.
How do you help patients feel comfortable during a procedure?
I help patients feel comfortable by taking the time to listen carefully, explain every step with compassion and patience. Being multilingual allows me to communicate with patients in the language they feel most at ease with, which helps build trust and reduce anxiety. My goal is for every patient to feel respect, informed and cared for throughout their experience.
